BASIS will be at the 2017 Show!

Staying abreast of the latest developments is a must for all industry professionals and the National Fruit Show is pleased to announce that BASIS Professional Register will be on site at this year’s event.

Passing an exam is one thing, but staying up-to-date in subjects which are rapidly changing and technically demanding, is quite another. This is the purpose of the BASIS Professional Register for the agriculture, horticulture and amenity pesticide sectors.
This register allows members to stay up to date in rapidly changing and technically demanding sectors. Members must hold a recognised qualification, agree to a written Code of Professional Ethics and commit to a programme of Continuing Professional Development. To stay on the register members must accrue a specified number of CPD points per year.

CPD is the structured maintenance, improvement and broadening of the knowledge and skills required as a professional working in the crop protection, amenity, fertiliser or public health pest control business sectors. It also includes development of the personal qualities required to succeed in these sectors.
The organisation also runs FACTS and since 1993 it has been the body responsible for setting standards, training and accrediting the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of those providing nutrient management advice. There are currently over 2500 active FACTS Qualified Advisers (FQAs) throughout the UK. Although a voluntary scheme, the growth of FACTS membership reflects how the agricultural industry recognises the importance and benefit of qualified advice to promote farming systems that optimise crop nutrition and protect the quality of soil, water, air and farm biodiversity.

Today, FQAs form a strong network across the UK, reflecting the industry’s commitment to continually improving nutrient resource management on farm.

BASIS will be located on stand H4, close to the Show Entrance in the Hendry Pavilion, so visitors will be able to sign up for their Career Professional Development points (2 available for each day) immediately on arrival.

For more information and to claim your points make sure to visit the BASIS stand on both Show days.
