The company’s flexible CA equipment works in every classic cold room, with no gas needed – CA conditions are obtained simply by closing the storage bin with its patented lid, and the natural process then does the job.
The respiration of the stored product lowers the oxygen rate, while the lid’s membranes let O2 in and CO2 out. Both gas rates quickly stabilise between 1% and 4%, which assists in significantly increasing the preservation period: up to 25 days for cherries or asparagus; 45 days for leeks or redcurrants; 7 months for pears; or 8 months for apples.
Furthermore, products can be taken out of CA conditions just when needed, one bin at a time, making the equipment perfectly suited to small- and medium-scale growers.
