The National Fruit Show, sponsored by Kent fruit grower AC Goatham and fruit marketeers APL Ltd, is pleased able to offer free workshops to Key Stage 2 children in Kent and London. Using colourful characters and hands-on activities. these workshops combine fun with learning and can be tailored to suit what is being taught in the classroom, whether the focus is on science through life cycle of the apple tree, geography [where does Our come from?] or healthy eating [why is fruit good for you?]. The programme has been carefully developed by a Landbased STEM ambassador and is national curriculum outcome linked to aid schools in delivering key targets. Children get the opportunity to taste British fruit when it is in season and also try snacks such as apple crisps and fruit leathers. The children can also try their hand at juicing their own apple juice and if the school has a garden there is the option to plant an apple tree with advice on how to prune and care for it. After the session all children receive a comic, colouring sheet and "I tried an apple today" scratch and sniff sticker.

We offer a FREE one hour, hands on investigative session to see if your students really do understand what’s in their food. Using scientific equipment from the industry, we help students work out how to decode labelling, understand the roles of the nutrition in their food and discuss the connection between what you eat and how you feel.
This session will also involve tasting apples, fruit bars and fruit crisps and making their own fruit juice.

In guidance with the national recommendations for COVID-19, we are now rebooking sessions for workshops in school from September 2021. If you would like to find out more, discuss our safety measures or book a workshop please contact our Education Team at education@nationalfruitshow.org.uk
To complement the teachers' pack, we offer a FREE 1 hour interactive workshop in your classroom. Children will learn about 'A Year in the Life of an Apple Tree' - and how much effort goes into growing this super fruit - with our fun hands-on lesson aimed to tickle the taste buds and get the children excited about healthy eating.
Linked closely to the KS2 Science curriculum, we will play games, hold a copy of the 'biggest apple in the world', ask questions and try different varieties of apple. And if that isn’t enough, each school will have the opportunity to plant a real apple tree, (donated by our sponsor F.P Matthews), in their school grounds to enjoy and continue their learning.
Places are limited and it is first come first served so make sure you don't miss this unique opportunity.
