The exhibition fruit has in the past travelled around the country, to a particular event to promote english fruit to the public.
Some of the Fruit is going to Noble House, the Home of DEFRA, for National Apple Day (the 23rd). Some is going to the Kentish Town city farm for their apple festival, some will be delivered by the South East Farmer Landrover and staff.
The fruit will be locally distributed between a number of Kent Community Chefs who work with young adults and community groups to cook together and learn new skills as well as building community in eating together.
The remainder of the fruit will be going to FareShare Kent who distribute fresh food to local community cafes and organisations such as Pilgrims Hospice to enable them to use fresh produce and the National Fruit Show Education Programme. The children get the opportunity to taste different varieties of apple and to make their own apple juice. The visit culminates with the school receiving an apple tree sapling to plant in the school grounds.
