The Marden Fruit Show Society has appointed Maria Clarke to the post of Show Secretary for the National Fruit Show.
Maria Clarke and Jeremy ScottMaria has previously worked in marketing and public relations most recently at the Port of Sheerness in Kent, one of the UK’s major handlers of imported fruit into the UK.
She has an MA in marketing from the University of Greenwich and holds the Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma.
The Society Chairman, Jeremy Scott, said “I am delighted to welcome Maria to the National Fruit Show team and all our members are keen to help her settle in. We have had a good handover period and Maria has been getting to grips with our activities and operations straight away. She is now looking forward to meeting our members, exhibitors, trade stand holders and growers.”
On her appointment Maria said “I am really looking forward to working with the Society, particularly on this year’s fruit show. I will be working with a well established team and I am looking forward to the challenge of learning about the fruit industry.”
The Marden Fruit Show Society is a Registered Charity run by a voluntary committee representing many different facets of the fruit industry. The Society aims to promote improvements in growing, grading and marketing of fruit.
The 2009 National Fruit Show will take place on 21st and 22nd October at the Kent County Show Ground.
Maria takes over from Gill Collins who leaves to join her husband in Hong Kong.
